Yılnak performs 2,122 km haul across Türkiye

Yılnak transported a 170-tonne transformer 2,122 km from Balıkesir, Türkiye to the Gürbulak border gate.

During the operation, the company utilised one 8 x 4 heavy-duty tractor unit, two 6 x 6 tractors, a 13-axle hydraulic modular trailer, and a special vessel deck frame with a 220-tonne carrying capacity.

The combination’s total weight was 281 tonnes, and the overall dimensions were 55.6 m in length, 5 m high, and 4.2 m wide.

Yılnak faced several challenges including regulatory and infrastructural issues. The engineering team made modifications and adjustments, allowing the transport to proceed.

It also obtained delivery permits from seven regions, requiring close coordination with local authorities to ensure that the load could safely pass through various bridges and tunnels. The company encountered several areas where the infrastructure was not originally designed to accommodate such massive loads, necessitating detours and road modifications.

Route planning and modifications also had to be addressed, especially in terms of sharp curves and steep inclines. Additionally, the engineering team had to make real-time adjustments, including reinforcing certain sections of the road and modifying the transport setup to navigate complex areas without compromising the safety of the load or surrounding infrastructure.

According to the company, the transformer’s height was also a significant challenge, particularly when passing beneath overpasses and power lines. To manage this, it utilised a special vessel deck frame in conjunction with modular axle trailers to maintain the necessary clearance while ensuring the load’s stability.
